MaterialsThe material is protected from the sun, it will NOT crystallize with age and is guaranteed as such for 20 years. The resin manufacturer guarantees this special formula. The resin contains ultraviolet inhibitors which reflect 20 - 30% of the ultraviolet rays (ultraviolet rays are what causes plastics to break down). Less than 10 - 15% screening and the material would break down. Above 20% screening, the material becomes stable and permanent. Because our Solar Optic greenhouse is translucent and reflects ultraviolet rays, the tremendous heat generating and magnifying glass effect, common to conventional greenhouses, is greatly reduced. You can get by without fan systems and shading material. |

Even in very hot climates we are able to get by without fan systems. Keep in mind it is not an air conditioner. The automatic roof vents control venting. They are heat powered, no wiring or electricity is required. They open and close on their own. You can adjust them to begin opening between 65 - 80 degrees as you require. One vent opens one way, the other opens opposite. One will draw, the other exhaust - creating excellent air movement and venting. The vent on the back wall opens manually as does the one in the top half of the door. This allows you to leave the door closed in summer, keeping humidity in and the cat out. You will have gentle ventilation instead of complex fan systems which dehydrate your greenhouse very quickly. The keyed lock on the door will keep the neighbours out if you like.
